Dry Shampoo Dreams
Talking about my favorite dry shampoo products for every hair color! Scroll to the end of this post to easily shop my favorite products.
Does anyone remember the days where baby powder was a girl’s best option for making her hair look fresh and clean? Enter dry shampoo. Talk about a miracle product!
Whether you’re looking to extend your blowout for a few days, deal with unwanted “greasy” or dirty-looking roots, or simply add a little extra volume to your hair, dry shampoo is the perfect every day styling product.
For me, personally, you can’t beat freshly shampooed hair. I wash my hair every other day (sometimes every third day because #momlife). That being said, I still use dry shampoo EVERY SINGLE DAY. I use very minimal hair styling products; I’ve just never been a hairspray girl. Dry shampoo does the trick and gives me that extra hold, yet still looks natural and does not weigh my hair down!
In my many years of using this product daily, there are a few I’ve fallen in love with. Here are some of my favorites for every hair color:
Batiste (buy it here)
What’s to Love: Best drugstore find, great for blondes, affordable.
This is truly my favorite dry shampoo of all time, believe it or not, and you can find it at most drugstores. It makes my hair look freshly washed, and on those days where I’ve waited too long to go to the salon and I want a “highlight in a can”, as I call it (sometime I affectionately refer to it as my George Washington hair days) this stuff does the trick! They also have multiple scents for you to choose from, if you don’t want to smell like straight baby powder. My FAVORITES are “blush” and “tropical”.
Disclaimer: girls with darker shades of hair, this might not be the one for you. It does leave a bit of “white” color before you comb it out, and while it does not stick around, I can’t guarantee you will love it. That being said, Batiste makes a brunette colored dry shampoo that I have heard many people rave about! I haven’t tried it myself but it’s definitely worth looking into.
They make a blonde dry shampoo as well, but I highly advise against it! It has a yellow hue that would scare most blondes away. If you are interested in more hair color specific dry shampoos, check out the Moroccan Oil products below!
Amika Perk Up Dry Shampoo (buy it here)
What’s to Love: Smells amazing, lightweight, does not have any “color” or leave white residue.
Anyone who has ever used any of Amika’s hair products knows that this brand uses the most adorable, bright and fun packaging. And what’s even better is that every product leaves your hair smelling incredible. The same is true for this dry shampoo!
Something else I love is the versatility of this product. This is awesome for every day use, no matter your hair color, texture, length, etc. There is no white residue left behind, and it doesn’t leave your hair feeling weighed down or heavy, like some dry shampoos can. And you will want to use it everyday because it just smells that good!
Moroccan Oil Dark Tones (buy it here)
What’s to Love: Best for brunettes, long-lasting, adds volume.
Moroccan Oil Light Tones (buy it here)
What’s to Love: Best for light blondes, long-lasting, adds volume.
Moroccan Oil’s dry shampoos are so universally loved, that I would absolutely suggest that everyone try them at least once. This is a fairly new product, and at $26 for a full-sized bottle it’s on the pricier side for dry shampoo, but it is well worth the price. There is a slight violet hue which flatters every hair color because it eliminates brassiness! (Blondes especially, can I get an amen?)
As it may be expected, I have only used the “light tones” formula, however I have multiple girlfriends who use the one created for dark hair tones and rave about it.
BONUS: Both of these products are UV protecting, which is huge for protecting hair from damage and keeping color-treated locks from fading! Also, they contain the same argan oil that made Moroccan Oil famous -- what could be better than a product that makes your hair look good while actually being GOOD for it!?
XOXO, Molly
